*"I've just finished this book and loved it. Although it is different than the first, it is just as good. I found myself laughing and then sniffling. It was like sitting down to have a heart to heart talk with my best friend. During those talks, no matter what you bring to the table, there are hugs and support. EVERYONE should read this book!!!" !Here is an excerpt of "Faith, Family, Friends, and Fried Chicken 2"; from the Chapter titled
"I Have Learned....Or Have I? "
I have learned…never to let your girls play “salon diva’s” and color your hair. I remember once, when we were having a mother/daughter day (we did this one day a month, all four of us for over a year.) I always, always wanted us to be close, to share memories and experiences together – the 4 Musketeers! Anyway, I remember one month for our mother/daughter day, the girls decided we were going to do our own “spa day”. We did facials for each other, and neck/shoulder massages and then the girls decided to give me some “highlights” in my hair (I had never had highlights before)..... My hair was a disaster and came out ORANGE!
And Jimmie and I had a car show to attend that night. I was in total shock. The girls reply to my “Oh My Gosh! What have you done to me?” was a very quiet “well Mom, you shouldn’t have let us do it, we didn’t know what we were doing.” I am laughing out loud as I write this, remembering that great day!
When I returned home, Jimmie just shook his head and said, “Why do you do stuff like that?” " I don’t know.", I replied,
" We were just having a “spa day” for goodness sakes!"
The “fix” for my hair that night at the car show…I wore a baseball cap!
